When You Need DL as PDF

The Driving Licence is a commonly requested document across Indian services. Many portals insist on PDF format rather than JPG:

• Job applications — especially driver, delivery, field-sales roles
• RTO form uploads — licence renewal, address change, duplicate DL
• Self-drive car rentals (Zoomcar, Revv, Myles) — ID proof
• Cab aggregator onboarding (Ola, Uber, Rapido driver partner)
• Insurance claims where the driver's DL is evidence
• Police verification for various licences and permits

DL Document Tips

• Plastic card vs paper booklet: Most Indian states now issue plastic smart-card DLs. For these, photograph the front (with your photo) and the back (with endorsements, QR code). For older paper booklets, every page may need to be included.
• Lamination glare: Plastic DLs reflect light. Take the photo at a slight angle and avoid direct overhead flash.
• QR code clarity: Some portals scan the QR on the back. Make sure that square is sharp and fully visible in your photo.
• International Driving Permit: If you need IDP as PDF, same process — upload each page as separate images.
